A "BUCKET LIST MOMENT"...

Two weeks ago, I was able to attend a Charity Crop in my hometown of Celina, Ohio where I taught a make n' take project and had the opportunity to sell some of our current ScrapScription kits.  The crop was held to benefit the county domestic violence center and there were a number of activities going on during the day that combined our hobby and the women that are effected and living in these situations.  What an amazing experience!  The organizer, Chiara, was one mighty army, and pulled together a fantastic event!  I felt blessed to have had the chance to be just a small part of their day. 

On top of all of this the "founder of scrapbooking" as we know it today - Lisa Bearnson- was the special guest for the entire day!  I have had the pleasure of meeting Lisa at a number of Creating Keepsakes events in the past.  However, in this small intimate setting, we had a chance of a lifetime (aka "one of those bucket list moments") to have a real conversation.  You can imagine my excitement as she approached our table where our kits were displayed.  It was just one of those "moments" that you can't quite wrap your head around.  Here is the person that has inspired an entire movement and in a way has inspired Candy and I to take this leap of faith on launching ScrapScription in the first place.  And there she was picking up and looking through the samples that I had designed and put together.  Completely mind blowing when I really think about it.

LIFE'S DAILY MOMENTS

This week we released the September installment of the ScrapScriber kit - LIFE'S DAILY MOMENTS.  Perfect for recording the little happenings that occur during a week in your life. 

This isn't your typical mini album style - in fact it is actually a portfolio with flaps that fold in and elastic bands that cross over the corners to keep it closed.  Such a fun way to keep an album together!  Inside, you'll actually cut, fold and bind the Basic Grey Basics papers into a "booklet".  Then we've provided you with pre-stamped MON - SUN images that you can cut and adhere to the awesome matching cardstock stickers.  These then become the "tabs" across the top of the booklet pages.  Then we've of course added a few cool envelopes, tags and other fun border stickers and tabs in between the booklet pages to hold little mementos or pieces from your week. 

But what I love most is that you can decide to just scrap the idea of MON - SUN and use the mini letter stickers provided in your kit to make up your own tabs and your own title on the front.  The album is so versatile! 

And who can resist an entire package of that cool Tim Holtz ruler ribbon.  This stuff is just amazing!  Such rich, vintage texture it brings to your album.  You are going to want to carefully use ever inch so you have some left to hoard!  ;)

HOW MUCH IS THAT DOGGY/KITTY IN THE WINDOW?

Yesterday we released our September 1st kit called WOOF/MEOW as an ode to man's best friends - our beloved dogs and cats.  Using Basic Grey's Max & Whiskers product line and coordinating milk chocolate chipboard album, we give you the option with the same kit to make it for either a dog or a cat.  We give you the chipboard letters to spell either WOOF or MEOW on the front cover and the instructions give you options to decorate the inside pages for either a cat or a dog!  Plus there is one sheet of 12x12 "dog" paper and one sheet of 12x12 "cat" paper to use in the album for either theme!  You are going to love the canvas tags and the coordinating cardstock stickers.  But what I love most is the huge 12x12 sheet of alphabet stickers which allow you to add a bunch of titles and journaling throughout your mini album.

This week has been a busy one at the ScrapScription Design Studio.  With the onslaught of CHA boxes being delivered, there has been little time to organize.  We shopped for a ton of new "generic" embellishments at this show.  We always try to buy in bulk when we can to avoid having to unpackage everything and just throw away all that cardboard and plastic packaging.  But sometimes it is just unavoidable.  So this week, I've been unpacking embellishments from 7Gypsies, Jenni Bowlin, Graphic 45 and Maya Road just to name a few.  Then I sort according to size and color.  Then I count and bag everything in large plastic tubs that I store under one of my workspaces.  So when I go to design a new album I simply pull out the bins and go "shopping" for embellishments to use in the album.  By having the total number of each item noted, I can easily tell how many I can use in a kit. 

Over at our shipping center in Lima, Candy has been receiving and checking in tons of product for upcoming kits including papers, embellishments, and albums.  She has gotten to know her delivery men quite well and her garage is quickly turning into the ScrapScription warehouse.  It takes quite a bit of time to count everything against the invoice to make sure you have received everything and then when something is missing, Candy is the one that chases down the missing pieces with the manufacturer.  All of this is going on while she handles incoming emails, processes new orders and new ScrapScribers, and prepares the next kit for shipping. 

It's our own little ScrapScription army!  And we still giggle every time we pause and think about how amazing the whole thing is!
